Highest number of Indians died in Canada: 633 people lost their lives on foreign soil in 5 years

New Delhi: The issue of students who lost their lives abroad was raised in the Indian Parliament, and the figures presented by the Ministry of External Affairs surprised everyone.

In just five years, 633 young people who went abroad to shape their futures lost their lives. Of these, 19 died from heart attacks, while the number of suicides was not provided.

This question was asked by MP Kodikunnil Suresh to the Ministry of External Affairs. According to the data provided by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, 633 young Indians lost their lives abroad in the past five years, with 19 of them dying from heart attacks.

The highest number of deaths occurred in Canada, where 172 people died in the last five years, including nine students who died due to attacks. The second highest number was in the United States, where 108 young people died during this period.

The State Department has named 41 countries in the figure where one or more students have died. Of the total deaths, 57 were in Australia, 24 in Germany, 18 in Italy, 12 in Kyrgyzstan, 37 in Russia, 18 in Ukraine, 58 in the UK, 12 each in Georgia and Cyprus and 18 in Saudi Arabia.
