Hindus and other minorities targeted in Bangladesh, VHP urges govt to ensure safety

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing violence in Bangladesh after Sheikh Hasina fled the country and came to power, Hindus and other minorities are now most feared. Hindus, Sikhs and other minorities have been targeted in Bangladesh for some time now.

After Sheikh Hasina fled the country, miscreants in Bangladesh have been targeting Hindus and other minorities. Their houses and shops are being set on fire. Anarchist elements are not shying away from targeting Hindu temples too. The situation has become so bad that about 7 percent of the Hindus living there are in fear these days.

Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are nothing new. Hindus have been targeted here in the past as well. But this time the situation is even different. Sheikh Hasina has left power.

Amid the ongoing uncertainty and chaos in Bangladesh, Hindus and minorities are being targeted in about 27 states there.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has expressed concern over the condition of Hindus in Bangladesh. VHP international president and senior advocate Alok Kumar said that minorities are being targeted there.

A day earlier, a mob targeted 22 houses in Panchagarh district, 20 in Jhinaidah and 22 shops in Jessore, he said. He appealed the Indian government for the safety of these people.
