IAEA says no radiation leak from Pakistan’s nuclear facilities during recent conflict

New Delhi: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said there was no radiation leak or release from any of Pakistan’s nuclear facilities during the recent military confrontation with India.

The global nuclear watchdog issued the clarification following social media claims that the Indian armed forces had targeted a nuclear facility in Pakistan during ‘Operation Sindoor’.

“Based on the information available with the IAEA, there has been no radiation leak or release from any nuclear facility in Pakistan,” the agency said in a statement.

Earlier, Director General of Air Operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, also dismissed claims that India had struck Pakistan’s nuclear site in Kirana Hills.

“Whatever it is, we have not targeted Kirana Hills,” Bharti told reporters on May 12.

India had launched an airstrike on an airbase in Sargodha, and there were reports suggesting a possible link between the base and an underground nuclear storage site at Kirana Hills.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal rejected US President Donald Trump’s claims of averting a nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.

He said India’s military action remained within conventional limits and denied any possibility of a nuclear escalation.
