Indian Airlines plane hijacker Gajinder Singh dies of heart attack in Pakistan

New Delhi: Gajinder Singh, who hijacked a Lahore-bound Indian Airlines (AI) flight in 1981, died of a heart attack at a hospital in Pakistan.

He was 74 years old. Dal Khalsa spokesperson Paramjit Singh Mand said Gajinder’s daughter Bikramjit Kaur, who lives in the UK with her husband and two children, confirmed the news. Gajinder’s wife Manjit Kaur passed away in Germany in January 2019.

Gajinder, the co-founder of radical outfit Dal Khalsa, was included in the list of 20 most wanted terrorists in 2002. He was one of the five who hijacked the plane with 111 passengers and six crew members on board on September 29, 1981.
