Indian origin Canadians face delays in consular services amid strained Canada-India relations
Toronto: Strained Canada-India relations have left many Canadians of Indian origin worried about further delays in consular services.
A Canadian citizen reported applying for the cancellation of his Indian passport three weeks ago after receiving his Canadian passport, but his application remains pending.
He said that this process used to take only three days about four or five years ago.
Some individuals who have applied for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards have raised concerns about the outsourced agency at the consulate office.
They claim that the agency’s staff often find issues with photos provided by applicants, pressuring them to take new ones at a higher price, creating a corruption-like environment.
