Indian-origin doctor and three family members killed in New York plane crash

New York: An Indian-origin doctor and three members of his family were killed in a plane crash near Karenville, New York, over the weekend. The family was en route to the Catskills for birthday celebrations.

According to media reports, the victims included renowned urogynecologist Dr Joy Saini; his wife, neurologist Dr Michelle Groff; their daughter Karina Groff, a former MIT soccer player and 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year; and son Jared Groff, a paralegal.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said in a statement that the crash occurred at 12:06 pm on April 12. The Mitsubishi MU-2B-40 aircraft, bearing registration N635TA, had taken off from Westchester County Airport in White Plains, New York.

NTSB officials said investigators are collecting evidence from the crash site and gathering information from witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
