Indian-origin man dies after being pushed off stairs outside shopping mall in Singapore
Singapore: An Indian-origin man was pushed out of a shopping mall in Singapore after he fell down the stairs and died, police said on Saturday.
Tevendran Shanmugam, 34, was pushed down the stairs by a man at concord shopping mall on Orchard Road last month. Shanmugam’s skull was broken from several places due to falling from the stairs.
He was undergoing treatment at a local hospital where he breathed his last on Friday. Shanmugam was cremated at the Mandai crematorium on Friday evening. Mohammad Azfri Abdul Kaha(27), who pushed Shanmugam, was booked for intentionally causing grievous hurt.
However, it is not clear from the documents submitted to the court whether Shanmugam and Kaha knew each other or not. If found guilty, Kaha could face up to 10 years in prison as well as a whip or fine.
