Indian students and citizens in Canada urged to remain vigilant amid rising concerns
New Delhi: Following the tragic killing of three Indian students in Canada last week, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued an advisory urging Indian nationals and students residing in Canada to exercise increased caution.
The advisory cited an “evolving security situation” marked by rising incidents of hate crimes and criminal violence in the country. Official figures indicate that over 400,000 Indian students are currently studying in Canada.
The Indian High Commission in Ottawa has raised concerns about the safety of Indians with Canadian authorities. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that the safety and welfare of Indian citizens remain a top priority.
“We are deeply saddened by these unfortunate incidents, where three Indian students were murdered. This terrible tragedy underscores the need for vigilance,” Jaiswal said.
The ministry has urged Indian nationals to stay informed and take necessary precautions while authorities address the issue with their Canadian counterparts.
