International students in Canada can work 24 hours a week, new rule to come into effect from September
Ottawa: The Government of Canada has made a new rule for all international students, including India. Under this rule, international students can now work outside the college campus only 24 hours a week. This rule is coming into effect from September.
Earlier, international students were allowed to work outside the campus for more than 20 hours.
“The temporary policy allowing students to work more than 20 hours per week outside the campus expired on April 30,” Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Mark Miller said. It will not be carried forward.
“Our aim is to bring down the number of hours students work off campus to 24 hours a week so that they can focus more on their studies,” he said.
