Iran President Ebrahim Raisi dies in chopper crash: Report
New Delhi: A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian crashed near Azerbaijan last evening. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Iran’s Red Crescent rescue team has reached the wreckage of the helicopter and he is said to be died in the crash.
Earlier, a Turkish search drone spotted a burning object in the mountains of Azerbaijan, prompting the dispatch of the search team.
According to available information, the accident occurred in an area with dense forests and hills. The Iranian government has organized 40 search teams. In response, Supreme Leader Khamenei held an emergency meeting, placing the Revolutionary Guard on alert.
Army Chief Mohammad Bagheri also put the army on alert, and the Basij Force was deployed in major cities. Additionally, security measures have been heightened in Kurdish-dominated areas, which saw anti-government movements last year.
