Jalandhar’s Rachel Gupta makes history as first Indian to win Miss Grand International
New Delhi: Rachel Gupta, a 20-year-old model from Jalandhar, Punjab, made history on Friday by becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious Miss Grand International title.
The event, held in Bangkok, Thailand, saw Rachel crowned by Peru’s Luciana Foster during the World Final at MGI Hall.
Rachel’s victory marks a significant achievement for India. The title contest concluded with the Philippines’ Christine Julien Opiazza as the first runner-up, followed by Myanmar’s Thai Su Nyen, France’s Safito Kabangelle, and Brazil’s Talita Hartmann.
Standing at 5’10”, Rachel Gupta is fluent in Hindi, English, and Punjabi, and is currently pursuing a career in modeling and acting.
She qualified to represent India in Miss Grand International by winning the national finals of Glamananda Supermodel India 2024, held at a Jaipur studio on August 11, 2024.
Her achievements in the competition also included four special awards: Miss Top Model, Miss Beauty with a Purpose, Best in Rampwalk, and Best National Costume.
