Kesari Nishan Sahib hoisted at Winnipeg City Hall to mark Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Sikh Heritage Month

Winnipeg: The ceremony of hoisting the Kesari Nishan Sahib was held at Winnipeg City Hall to mark Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Sikh Heritage Month.

The event began with prayers led by the Panj Pyare (five beloved ones) for the well-being of all humanity, following which the Nishan Sahib was raised.

City Councillor and Speaker Devi Sharma addressed the gathering, extending greetings on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas and Baisakhi.

It is noteworthy that the City of Winnipeg hoists the Kesari Nishan Sahib every year at City Hall in April, which is celebrated as Sikh Heritage Month.

In a related event, the annual ‘Turbanpride Day’ was organised at Red River College by the Students’ Association in collaboration with the Indian Culture Club. The event aimed to raise awareness about the history and significance of the turban as a symbol of Sikh identity and pride.
