Liberal Party rejects Hindu-Canadian MP Chandra Arya’s nomination for federal elections

Toronto: Hindu-Canadian MP Chandra Arya announced on Saturday that Canada’s ruling Liberal Party has rejected his nomination as a candidate for the upcoming federal elections from the Nepean parliamentary constituency in Ottawa.

Arya has been vocal against alleged desecration of temples and other violent acts by Khalistanis in Canada. He has also criticized former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government for allegedly harboring pro-Khalistani elements.

In the past, Arya condemned a petition filed by Liberal MP Sukh Dhaliwal related to the 1985 Air India Kanishka bombings, which killed 329 people. The bombing was the deadliest act of aviation terror before the 9/11 attacks.

In a social media post, Arya said he was informed by the Liberal Party that his nomination had been rejected. “While this news is very disappointing, it does not diminish my deep respect for serving as a Member of Parliament to the Nepeonian people – and all Canadians – since 2015,” he said.

“Serving my community and country has been the biggest responsibility of my life, and I am grateful for every moment of it,” he added.
