Mumbai terror attacks: Rana may be extradited to India: US court

Washington: In a major setback to Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Rana, accused of being involved in the Mumbai terror attacks, a US court has ruled that he can be extradited to India under an extradition treaty.

“The (Indo-US Extradition) Treaty allows Rana’s extradition,” the US Court of Appeals said in its ruling.

Rana, who is lodged in a US jail, is facing charges of involvement in the Mumbai attacks.

He is believed to be an associate of Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, who was one of the main conspirators of the November 26, 2008 Mumbai attacks. A total of 166 people, including six Us citizens, were killed in these terrorist attacks.
