Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto alliance likely, meeting today

Lahore: An important meeting is scheduled today between the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and Asif Ali Zardari’s party (PPP).

According to a local meida report, a press conference will follow this meeting, during which the new central government may be announced. It is speculated that Asif Ali Zardari could be announced as president for the second time during this event.

The matter seems to be stalled on several fronts. According to the report, Nawaz Sharif is keen on having the PPP join the government, as failure to do so could not only disrupt the government’s operations but also lead to the PPP withdrawing its support at any time, causing direct losses to the PML-N. This is why Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif have reportedly agreed to accept most of the PPP’s demands.

The PPP’s demands include having its Chief Minister in Balochistan and seeking support from Nawaz for this endeavor. Reportedly, Nawaz and Shahbaz have acquiesced to this demand.

Additionally, the PPP aims to secure the posts of Senate Chairman and Speaker of the National Assembly, with the condition that PPP joins the central government and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari remains second in command. Shahbaz Sharif is poised to assume the role of Prime Minister.

Both parties have established a Contact and Coordination Committee (CCC), which is currently engaged in a series of meetings.

The committee is expected to reach a decision, which will be announced during the press conference following the final meeting on Monday.
