New York government schools to remain closed on Diwali

New Delhi: Schools in New York City will remain closed on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights. Making the announcement, the officials described it as a “victory” for the city residents, including the Indian community.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he was proud that the legislature and council had passed a bill allowing New York City government schools to remain closed on Diwali.
