Pakistan exits ICC Champions Trophy without a win as rain washes out match against Bangladesh
Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy ended without a single victory after their crucial match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to persistent rain on Thursday.
The match was a must-win for both teams, as the losing side would have been eliminated from the tournament. However, with the game being called off without a ball being bowled, both Pakistan and Bangladesh had to settle for one point each, leading to their exit from the competition.
The outcome was particularly disappointing for Pakistan, who were playing as hosts.
Heavy rain throughout the day left waterlogged patches around the ground, and with no improvement in conditions, match officials canceled the game two hours after the scheduled start time. The toss could not take place due to the inclement weather.
Pakistan faced severe criticism for their poor performance in the tournament, having already lost to New Zealand by 60 runs and to India by six wickets. Bangladesh also failed to secure a win in the competition.
