Bangkok: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Thailand on Thursday for a two-day visit to attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit. During his visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with Thai Prime Minister Petongtran Shinawatra before departing for Sri Lanka.

On his arrival at Don Muang airport, Modi was welcomed by members of the Sikh community with bhangra.

On Thursday evening, he will join leaders from BIMSTEC nations—Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bhutan—for the signing of the Maritime Cooperation Agreement.

Modi also met Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus, and Myanmar’s military junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.

In a departure statement, Modi called BIMSTEC a crucial platform for enhancing regional development, connectivity, and economic progress in the Bay of Bengal region.
