Pressure mounts on Justin Trudeau to resign as Liberal MPs set Oct 28 deadline

Toronto: The demand for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation is gaining momentum, as Liberal Party MPs have given him until October 28 to step down.

According to a media report, a group of disgruntled Liberal MPs gathered on Parliament Hill during a House of Commons session, expressing growing dissatisfaction with Trudeau’s leadership.

In a three-hour caucus meeting on Wednesday, MPs voiced their concerns, with many directly urging Trudeau to resign before the next election.

British Columbia MP Patrick Weiler presented a document outlining arguments for his resignation, reportedly supported by 24 MPs who signed an agreement calling for Trudeau to step down.

The internal tensions within the Liberal Party mirror the situation faced by Democrats in the U.S. following President Joe Biden’s decision not to run for re-election.

MPs were given two minutes each to air their grievances during the meeting, with many appealing for Trudeau’s departure, reflecting the growing pressure within his own ranks.
