Putin announces Easter ceasefire with Ukraine, urges Kyiv to respond

Kyiv: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine to mark the Easter holiday, the Kremlin said in a statement. The ceasefire, proposed by Moscow, is set to begin at 6 pm Moscow time (8:30 pm IST) on Easter Sunday and will remain in effect until 2:30 pm IST the following day.

The announcement came after Putin met with Chief of the General Staff General Valery Gerasimov. The Kremlin has called on Kyiv to respond to the ceasefire proposal.
