Resignations shake Trudeau Cabinet amid internal tensions

Toronto: Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland, has stepped down from her position following days of a reported standoff with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Announcing her resignation, Freeland stated she plans to contest the next election from her previous constituency.

Her departure comes shortly after another key minister, Sean Fraser, tendered his resignation. Fraser, who faced controversies during his tenure as housing minister three years ago, did not comment on the reasons behind his decision to leave.

The back-to-back resignations have raised concerns about internal discord within Trudeau’s cabinet, with analysts suggesting this could serve as a warning sign for the administration’s stability.
