Rizwan on Pakistan’s performance: ‘We need to learn from our mistakes’

Karachi: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group stage match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was abandoned due to persistent rain on February 27. Umpires called off the match after continuous bad weather, leaving both teams disappointed.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed his frustration, saying, “We wanted to do well in front of our community. Expectations were high, and not being able to play is disappointing.”

Rizwan acknowledged his team’s past mistakes and hoped to improve in future matches. “You learn from your mistakes. We haven’t performed well in recent games, but hopefully, we will improve. Our next tour is to New Zealand, where we aim to play better,” he added.

He also highlighted the impact of injuries on the team’s balance. “When players performing well in Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe suddenly get injured, it affects the team. As a captain, you have to manage that. Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were injured, but that’s not an excuse—we need to learn from this,” Rizwan said.
