Russia, Ukraine trade drone and missile attacks; civilians injured on both sides

Kharkiv: Russia launched a wave of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, late last night, injuring several civilians. Ukrainian officials said the attack was unprovoked and claimed it did not target military personnel. President Volodymyr Zelensky said such attacks often occur when civilians are asleep in their homes.

In response, Ukraine carried out a drone strike on the Russian port city of Novorossiysk on Saturday, injuring five people. The city’s mayor, Andrei Kravchenko, declared an emergency and said a woman was in critical condition and receiving medical treatment.

He also visited the damaged site and directed local authorities to take necessary measures.

Both countries have accused each other of targeting residential areas instead of military installations as cross-border tensions continue to escalate.
