US police officer sacked for laughing at Indian student’s death
New York: A police officer in the US has been sacked for making insensitive comments and laughing after the death of an Indian student. The 23-year-old Indian student, Janvi Kandula, was hit by a police car while crossing the road. His car driver, Kevin Dave, was speeding to investigate a case. After the collision, the woman fell 100 feet away.
An investigation by the Seattle Police Department found that the police officer made insensitive comments and laughed for four seconds after the collision.
Authorities said that this attitude of the officer has brought shame to the entire police department and profession. “It would be an insult to the department not to allow this officer to continue in the police force, so he is dismissed,” officials said.
