Video of Nitish Reddy’s father touching Gavaskar’s feet goes viral

Melbourne: Mutyala Reddy, the father of Indian batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy, became the center of a heartfelt moment when he touched the feet of cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar during their meeting in Melbourne. The video of the emotional interaction has gone viral on social media.

Nitish, who scored his maiden century in the fourth Test against Australia, was accompanied by his parents during the meeting with Gavaskar.

The former Indian captain praised Mutyala for his sacrifices, calling Nitish a “diamond” of Indian cricket. “Indian cricket has got a gem because of you,” Gavaskar said, visibly moved, while acknowledging the family’s support in Nitish’s journey.

Nitish’s mother shared her disbelief and joy, stating she still can’t fathom her son playing on such a grand stage and delivering a stellar performance.

Mutyala Reddy also expressed gratitude to pacer Mohammed Siraj for his support on the field, which helped Nitish achieve the milestone.
