Who is Ruby Dhalla? Indian-origin female face in Canadian PM race, know

Toronto: Ruby Dhalla, an Indian-origin leader of Canada’s Liberal Party, is poised to make history as the country’s first Asian female prime minister if sworn in.

A self-made entrepreneur, doctor, and three-time Member of Parliament, Dhalla has pledged to tackle pressing issues such as rising housing costs, food prices, crime, and the threat of US tariffs under her leadership.

Born to immigrant parents in Winnipeg, approximately 2,000 kilometers from Ottawa, Dhalla’s life story reflects the opportunities Canada offers.

She has attributed her achievements to hard work and credited Pierre Trudeau, father of current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, for his role in opening Canada’s doors to immigrants in the 1970s.
