Chandigarh: The Punjab government has dismissed Inspector Sunita Rani with immediate effect following allegations that she demanded and accepted a ₹50,000 bribe.
The action was taken after the allegations of bribery surfaced, with the police department treating the matter seriously and initiating departmental proceedings.
IGP Faridkot Range Nilambari Jagdale issued the order for Sunita Rani’s dismissal. Following the departmental action, she was removed from service with immediate effect.
According to the allegations, Sunita Rani demanded ₹50,000 as a bribe and was also accused of accepting the amount. The police department subsequently proceeded with action against her in accordance with the applicable rules.
