5000 school students participated in mega rally to create awareness about harmful effects of drugs
Punjab government committed to eradicate drugs from each and every corner of Punjab: Laljit Singh Bhullar
Chandigarh/Tarn Taran, April 26:
Under the “Yuddh Nashiyan Viruddh” campaign launched by the Punjab Government under the guidance of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the District Administration, Tarn Taran, today organized a massive awareness rally to create awareness among people against drugs. Over 5,000 students from various schools of Tarn Taran city, administrative officers, employees and the general public participated in the rally.
The massive awareness rally was led by Punjab Cabinet Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar and attended by over 5,000 school students from various schools of Tarn Taran city. He administered an oath to all attendees to support this anti-drug campaign.
On this occasion MLA Tarn Taran Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, MLA Khadoor Sahib Mr. Manjinder Singh Lalpura, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran Mr. Rahul (IAS), besides Chairman Punjab Warehouse Corporation Mr. Gurdev Singh Lakhana, Chairman District Planning Committee Tarn Taran Mr. Gurvinder Singh Behrwal, Chairman Punjab Water Resources Mr. Ranjit Singh Cheema, Vice Chairman Punjab Khadi Board Mr. Harpreet Singh Sandhu, District President Mrs. Anju Verma and youth leader Mr. Angad Singh Sohal, SDM Tarn Taran Mr. Arvinder Pal Singh, SDM Patti Mr. Inderpreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner General Dr. Karanveer Singh, District Youth Officer Jasleen Kaur and District Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Mr. Bikramjit Singh Purewal also participated in the rally.
The rally started from Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Tarn Taran and reached Shri Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran via Jandiala Road and Bohri Chowk. During the rally, school students and participants raised their voices against drugs, urging people to stay away from drugs and pledged to support the Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign.
On this occasion Cabinet Minister Punjab S. Laljit Singh Bhullar appealed to the district residents to cooperate in the campaign to make their district and Punjab drug-free. He said that drug addiction is a social evil and this menace will be eradicated from its roots with the cooperation of every section of society.
- Bhullar said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is determined to eradicate drug menace. He stated that today’s massive awareness rally is also aimed at educating people against drugs. He added that while the Punjab Government is taking strict action against drug smugglers, it is also providing free treatment to those trapped in drug addiction and ensuring their rehabilitation. He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and choose a healthy and happy life.
Notably, the rally concluded at Sri Darbar Sahib, Tarn Taran, where, under the leadership of Cabinet Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar, school students and participants sought divine blessings for a drug-free Punjab.
