CELEBRATING THE 98TH BIRTHDAY OF PADMA BHUSHAN DR. JOHL: A TRIBUTE TO A LIFE OF EXCELLENCE
LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 24: The 98th birthday of Padma Bhushan Dr. Sardara Singh Johl, former Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, and Vice-Chancellor of both Punjabi University, Patiala, and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, was celebrated in a unique and heartfelt manner at his residence in Gurdev Nagar.
Distinguished personalities from various fields gathered to extend their best wishes and share cherished memories with Dr. Johl. Among the notable attendees were Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Chairman, Punjab Lok Virasat Academy and culture activist; Krishan Kumar Bawa, Chairperson of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Charitable Trust (Regd.); Gurpreet Singh Toor, former IG Police; Tej Partap Singh Sandhu, renowned photo artist; Ranjodh Singh, industrialist and educationist; Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Guru Kashi University; Ravinder Singh Ranguwal, cultural connoisseur; Brij Bhushan Goyal, and Gurmeet Singh, media photographer; Guriqbal Singh, educationist; and Dr. Kulwinder Kaur, educationist, among others.
The well-wishers presented floral bouquets and a garland of 101 roses to Dr. Johl as a symbol of longevity and admiration. Mr. Toor offered jaggery specially brought from Pakistan during hi recent visit there, while Mr. Bawa gifted a book titled Wisdom of Adi Guru Granth Sahib: An Oecumenical Scripture. Tej Pratap Sandhu and Dr. Kulwinder Kaur also presented their latest books to Dr. Johl.
Adding to the celebratory spirit, young students from a local school recited patriotic poems, infusing the occasion with youthful energy and fervour. Chocolates and ladoos were distributed among all present, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Johl remarked, “This celebration has truly energized me. The heartfelt wishes and blessings from loved ones profoundly impact as one continues life’s journey.” Reflecting on his long and healthy life, he attributed his longevity to discipline and diligence, which have been his guiding principles.
