Ensuring strict action against the illegal mining activities in the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District, a total of 14 FIRs have been lodged during the current year besides recovering a penalty of Rs 3.36 crore in the last six months.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Aashika Jain said that as per the commitment of the state government to not allow illegal mining in the district, the progress of district Drainage-cum-Mining and Geology Division SAS Nagar was reviewed today. She said that in expediting enforcement activities against illegal mining, about 76 vehicles have been issued challans and impounded, wherein a penal amount of Rs 275.5 lakh has been recovered from these violators.
Similarly, acting tough against those who excavate mining from illegal sites, a penalty of Rs 37,58,188 has been imposed and recovered. Apart from that, a penalty fee of Rs 18,29,874 has been recovered from the stone crushers violating mining and geology policy.
She said that a permit fee of Rs 1,70,65,456 has been generated in the district under permits K-1, K-2 and BKOs etc. She said that the Mining and Geology Officials have been asked to comply with the implementation of the mining policy strictly and no one would be spared on finding violating the rules.
