District Coperative Development Committe Reviews Working and Improvement in Cooperative Societies
Primary Cooperative Societies to emerge as Economic Vibrant Entities, says ADC Sonam Chaudhary
Activities related to International Year of Cooperation salted
SAS Nagar, January 30, 2025:
To make the primary cooperative societies as economically vibrant entities, a meeting of the District Cooperative Development Committee was held by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary.
Discussing the further improvements in the existing cooperative societies to make them more profitable and successful models of cooperation, it was decided that all the 65 working Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies should be equipped with uniform computer software. ADC Sonam Chaudhary was apprised by the Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies that a desktop computer with printer and biometric scanner has already been purchased for each society and Department of Cooperation, Punjab is going to hire a system integrator for software installation soon.
Furthermore, 43 services PACSs out of 65 have already been shortlisted for giving services as CSC under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to provide more than 300 services to their members as well as rural citizens. So, far 33 PACSs have started work as CSC centers.
Moreover, to set up a Farm Producer Organisation in those areas where FPOs have not been formed yet, the Sialba PACS has been designated as FPO in Majri block, added ADC Sonam Chaudhary.
Proposals were also demanded from the PACS that fulfil the conditions to install a petrol/diesel pump.
In order to set up Jan Aushadhi Kendras in PACS Societies also, the first Jan Aushadhi Kendra will be made functional at Khara Marketing Society, shortly after completing the requisite formalities. The license has already been procured for running a pharma store, informed Deputy Registrar Gurbir Singh Dhillon.
Similarly, twenty Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies of the district have opted for the Pardhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras for fertilizer distribution.
Furthermore, three of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies of the district have applied for becoming the member of the National Level Multistate Cooperative Society for exports. Ten of PACS of district have applied for National Level Multistate Cooperative Society for certified Seeds while one of PACS has applied for National Level Multistate Cooperative Society for Organic farming.
