Kids shine on first day of Three-Day National Qualifier for Horse Riding
Suhawa (13) Clears First National Qualifier while Saavia (10) Second in the kid’s category at Mohali Horse Riding Society at Mohali witnesses spectacular performances by kids in the prestigious event DIG Inderveer Also Qualified for the National SAS Nagar, November 15, 2024: To promote horse riding sport among kids and adults, a three-day National Qualifier competition kicked off with a Big Bang at Chandigarh Horse Riding Society, Mohali(adjacent to YPS) today. The event witnessed spectacular performances by the kids as Suhawa (13) cleared the first National Qualifier while Saavia (10) was Second in Kids category. Divulging more details, Advocate J S Toor, General Secretary of the society said that the National Qualifier recorded 38 participants on day one, out of which 34 cleared the National Qualifier second time which is the mandatory condition to participate in National Equestrian Championships coming up in February next year. He said that DIG Inderveer Singh from Punjab Police also cleared the second National Qualifier today. Expressing her joy over the first National Qualifier of her daughter Suhawa, Dr Tarundeep Kaur, IRS, a former horse rider, said that it was a dream of her husband Ravi Bhagat, IAS, (three times best rider of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie) and her that their daughter also excels in the horse riding like them and today when she cleared first National Qualifier at the age of 13, they feel immense pleasure. She said that they both have high hopes for her child as she exhibited rare courage during today’s competition. Dr Tarunpreet further said that focussed, firm and peaceful mind is the key to control the horse while riding. Dr Tarunpreet said that she is proud of her daughter that she has picked up the sport very well by following the game very intelligently and honestly with a sportsman spirit. Advocate G S Toor further said that Sohawa cleared eight jumps while riding equestrian. She has been among the prominent riders of the Society from whom the CHRS has high hopes, he added. He said that there were about 60-70 participants in the kids category who exhibited their rare skills to handle the equestrian. He said that the three-day National Qualifier for tent pegging and other activities will witness the participants from across the North Indian state.
