Rajpura, January 11: Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav inspected the traffic congestion areas in Rajpura city. She accompanied SDM Avikesh Gupta and reviewed the traffic arrangements around Gagan Chowk, GT Road and Tahli Wala Chowk.
Taking the situation of heavy traffic congestion and congestion seriously, the Deputy Commissioner issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure smooth traffic flow and directed the local administration to implement immediate measures to reduce congestion.
Dr. Preeti Yadav directed SDM Avikesh Gupta to hold a meeting with representatives of nearby industries to prepare a plan for creating dedicated lanes for trucks and heavy vehicles plying for industries. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the traffic congestion caused by such vehicles on GT Road and Chandigarh Road and to smoothen the traffic flow.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed on the need for the local traffic police to actively regulate traffic. He directed the police to review the peak hours and suggested shifting the bus stoppages at both the junctions at Gagan Chowk a little further towards Chandigarh Road and Patiala Road. This change is expected to reduce the congestion caused by daily commuters boarding and alighting buses at the existing locations.
During her visit to Tahli Chowk, Dr. Preeti Yadav directed the Municipal Council officials to remove encroachments obstructing the roads. She stressed that fruit and vegetable vendors should remain at their designated places instead of setting up stalls on the road space, as such encroachments cause traffic congestion.
SDM Avikesh Gupta and local traffic police assured the Deputy Commissioner of prompt action to resolve the identified issues. They expressed their commitment to take concrete steps to clear the roads and reduce traffic congestion in Rajpura city, including at Tahli Wala Chowk and the heavily congested Gagan Chowk.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated his commitment to improve traffic conditions and urged the officers of all the concerned departments to work in coordination to ensure smooth movement for the city residents and passers-by.
