New Delhi: A woman who went missing from Mumbai after going abroad 20 years ago has been traced to Pakistan with the help of social media.

Hameeda Bano (70), who lives in Hyderabad, Pakistan, has recently got in touch with her family living in the suburb of Kurla here. She left for work in Dubai in 2002. According to Hameeda Bano's family, she told Waliullah Maroof, an activist in Pakistan, that 20 years ago, a Mumbai-based agent fraudulently sent her to Pakistan promising to get her work in Dubai.

She said that after this Bano started living in the city of Hyderabad in the province of Sindh and got married to a man there. She has a child and her husband is dead. Maroof uploaded a video clip of Bano on YouTube channel.

Mumbai-based social activist Khaflan Shaikh, while sharing the video in local groups, traced Bano's daughter Yasmin Bashir Sheikh, said, ''We are happy that our mother is alive and safe. We now seek help from the Government of India to bring them back."
