27 Pakistani nationals return home via Attari border after special exemption

New Delhi: As many as 27 Pakistani nationals, including women and children, returned to their country through the Attari border today under a special exemption granted by the Indian government.
The movement comes a day after the border was completely closed for traffic on May 1 as a mark of protest against the Pahalgam incident.
No Indian national returned from Pakistan today, officials confirmed.
On Wednesday, over 40 Pakistani nationals were left stranded after the abrupt closure of the border.
Following this, the Pakistan government reportedly approached India with a request to allow its citizens to return. The Indian authorities permitted the movement under a special arrangement.
Among those who crossed the border today were around 16 Hindu Pakistani nationals who had come to India on a two-month visa to perform the last rites of their elders in Haridwar.
