4 more bodies recovered from debris, death toll rises to 5 in Kedarnath
New Delhi: Four bodies were recovered from the debris accumulated due to landslides on the Kedarnath National Highway in Rudraprayag district on Tuesday, police said.
Due to which the total number of dead has increased to five. The rescue and relief operations, which were halted due to inclement weather, snowfall, darkness and shooting stones on Monday night, resumed in the morning during which the bodies of four other pilgrims, including three women, were pulled out from the debris, officials said.
More people are also feared trapped under the debris accumulated due to the landslide near Munkatia between Sonprayag and Gaurikund late on Monday evening, he said.
The road, which was closed due to landslides, has been opened for walking for the time being. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his condolences to those killed in the incident.
