53 drugs including paracetamol, vitamin D, fail quality test
New Delhi: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has released the results of a recent quality test in which 53 medicines failed.
Among the failed drugs are medications for blood pressure, diabetes, acid reflux, and vitamins, as well as commonly used fever reducers like paracetamol and pain relievers like diclofenac. The antifungal drug fluconazole was also on the list.
These drugs, produced by several major pharmaceutical companies, have been deemed harmful to health.
Notably, Sun Pharma’s Pantosid tablets were mentioned, although five drugs from the failed list are suspected to be counterfeit, according to their manufacturers.
The list includes widely used medicines, whose consumption has significantly increased in recent years.
