9 dead, 15 injured as bus carrying pilgrims from Punjab catches fire while returning from Mathura-Vrindavan
New Delhi: A bus carrying pilgrims from Punjab, who were returning from Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh on a pilgrimage, caught fire near Nuh in Haryana. Nine pilgrims were burnt alive and 15 others were injured in the fire.
The accident took place late on Friday night on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway near Nuh in Haryana. The injured have been brought to Nuh Medical College.
More than 60 people, including women and children, were on board the bus.
All were residents of Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana in Punjab and all were relatives of each other.
Locals saw the bus on fire and chased the vehicle and asked the driver to stop the bus.
