AAP alleges MLAs stopped from entering Delhi Assembly; BJP defends suspension
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, on Thursday alleged that police officials, acting on the SpeakerтАЩs directions, prevented AAP MLAs from entering the Assembly complex.
“Police officials are saying that AAP MLAs have been stopped from entering the Delhi Assembly complex. They are saying that they have orders from the Speaker to stop AAP MLAs at the gate. This has never happened in the entire parliamentary history of the country,” Atishi said.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Satish Upadhyay defended the suspension of AAP MLAs, stating, “The House will go by the law. If they create ruckus and anarchy, the Speaker will take action. The Speaker’s decision is final.”
BJP MLA Ravinder Singh Negi criticized AAP, saying, “They are roaming around with the picture of Babasaheb Ambedkar, but they should also follow the Constitution made by him. They think they are still in power, but they should remember that they are out of power now.”
Delhi minister Parvesh Verma also supported the Speaker’s decision, asserting, “They (AAP MLAs) cannot raise slogans when the Lt Governor is addressing the House. They cannot be allowed to break the law.”
