AAP-Congress alliance speculated for Haryana assembly elections
New Delhi: Following a lackluster performance in the Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are rumored to be exploring an alliance for the upcoming Haryana assembly elections. This speculation gained traction after a meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) on Monday.
Sources suggest that former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is open to allotting 3-4 seats to AAP as part of the alliance deal. During the CEC meeting in Delhi, Congress discussed potential candidates for Haryana, reportedly finalizing over 30 names, with an official announcement expected on Wednesday.
While there is no official confirmation, it is reported that Rahul Gandhi sought the opinions of party leaders regarding an alliance with AAP in Haryana. AAP’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh welcomed the potential alliance, stressing the shared goal of defeating the BJP.
However, he said that any official decision would depend on further discussions between party leaders, including AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
