AAP-Congress alliance talks in Haryana face deadlock over seat sharing: Sources
Chandigarh: The ongoing alliance discussions between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress in Haryana have hit a roadblock over the distribution of seats and selection of constituencies.
According to AAP sources, the seat-sharing formula proposed by the Congress is unacceptable to them. If Congress does not revise its stance, the alliance might fall through, leading AAP to contest 50 assembly seats independently in the state.
Sources also indicate that several rebels from both Congress and BJP are considering contesting the elections on AAP tickets. AAP is expected to release its first list of candidates on Sunday, ahead of the September 12 nomination deadline for the Haryana Assembly elections.
As part of the alliance negotiations, AAP is reportedly demanding 10 seats from Congress, while Congress is only willing to allocate 5 seats. The state has a total of 90 assembly seats, and key Congress leaders are said to be in agreement on limiting AAP’s share to 5 seats.
