AAP MP Harbhajan Singh opposes house demolitions in drug crackdown

Chandigarh: Punjab Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha member and former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has made a statement that contradicts the party’s stance on the ‘war against drugs’ campaign.

Speaking on the issue, Harbhajan Singh said he does not support the demolition of houses belonging to individuals accused of selling drugs. “If someone sells drugs, and their house is demolished, I am not in favor of this,” he said.

The former cricketer, who hails from Jalandhar, added that a house provides shelter, and demolishing it is not a suitable solution. “What remains is a roof over someone’s head. So I think demolishing the house is not a good option. Something else can be done instead. If someone is occupying government land, then such action is valid,” he said.

He further said that efforts should be made to allow people to retain their homes rather than destroying them. “I don’t know how a person built a house, but breaking it down is not a good option,” he added.
