AAP to contest Delhi assembly polls independently, says Kejriwal
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has announced that his party will contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections without forming any alliances. Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal stated, “There will be no alliance in Delhi.”
During the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, AAP had joined the opposition alliance INDIA and collaborated with Congress in Delhi. However, the alliance failed to secure any seats. Kejriwal reiterated that the partnership with Congress was limited to the Lok Sabha elections.
AAP leader Gopal Rai also dismissed the need for an INDIA alliance in the Delhi Assembly elections, asserting, “We will fight and win the elections with the support of the people of Delhi.”
The Delhi Assembly elections are expected to take place on or before February next year. AAP has already released its first list of 11 candidates on November 21.
