Accused in Sidhu Moosewala murder case detained at Delhi airport while trying to flee abroad
New Delhi: In a major development in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, an accused named Jiwanjot Singh Chahal was detained at Delhi airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
According to sources, the Mansa police had already issued a lookout notice against Chahal after his name was mentioned in the FIR related to the killing of the Punjabi singer. Acting on this alert, the Delhi Airport Authority detained him and informed the Mansa police.
Following the alert, a team of two inspector-rank officers, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), left for Delhi to bring Chahal to Mansa. After a medical examination, he will be produced in a local court for remand and further interrogation. Officials believe his questioning may lead to crucial revelations in the high-profile case.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, 2022, at Jawaharke village near Mansa. Senior Mansa police officials have not officially commented on the detention, though the news has been widely reported in the media since morning.
