After CM’s meeting with Amit Shah, Centre to deploy 18 additional CRPF companies in Punjab
Chandigarh: In view of the increasing incidents of Khalistan supporters in Punjab, any major step can be taken to maintain law and order. On Thursday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence.
Amritpal Singh, head of ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit, and his activists had stormed a police station in Ajnala, Punjab.
Six policemen were injured. Not only this, he warned the police that if any action is taken against any of his supporters, then the attack on Ajnala police station could be repeated.
In that context, this meeting of Shah and Mann is considered important.
Meanwhile, on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry, 18 companies of CRPF/ RAF are being deployed in Punjab. These companies will be in Punjab from March 6 to March 16. These companies have been asked to be equipped with all types of anti-riot equipment, OP scale arms and ammunition.
