After SC’s decision, the central government issued an ordinance for transfer postings of officers in Delhi

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing standoff between the Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor in Delhi, the central government has passed a new ordinance. With the help of this ordinance, the powers of the Delhi government have now been curtailed.
Along with issuing the ordinance, the central government has also constituted the National Capital Civil Service Authority. It will be the responsibility of this authority to transfer and appoint all Group A and Danibs officers.
The new authority created by the Centre consists of three people. These include delhi CM, chief secretary and principal secretary (home) NCT government. The Center will take decisions on the advice of this authority. There is also a provision that the decision will be taken by the majority.
This ordinance is to curtail the powers given to the Delhi government after the Order of the Supreme Court. So far, the chief secretary and principal secretary home have been appointed by the central government. That is, after the new ordinance, the Chief Minister will now be in a minority in the authority. That is, the right to transfer posting will still remain with the central government.
