Agneepath scheme aims to make security forces war-ready: PM Modi

Dras (Kargil): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today attended the 25th anniversary celebrations of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Hitting out at the opposition, he said the Agneepath scheme was aimed at keeping the Army continuously fit for war but some people were doing politics over the sensitive issue related to national security and misleading the people about the plan.

He said that for decades, discussions have been held in Parliament and various committees to keep the armed forces fit and to make them comfortable in all respects. He said that after the implementation of this scheme by the government, the opposition is creating confusion about it.
