Arvind Kejriwal unveils seven-point manifesto for middle class
New Delhi: AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has released a seven-point charter addressing the concerns of India’s middle class, which he described as the “real superpower of the Indian economy.”
In a video message, Kejriwal accused successive governments of exploiting the middle class through “tax terrorism” and ignoring their needs.
The manifesto proposes increasing the education budget from the current 2% to 10% of GDP and capping private school fees. Kejriwal also suggested subsidies and scholarships to make higher education more accessible.
On healthcare, he advocated raising expenditure to 10% of GDP and removing taxes on health insurance premiums. Additionally, Kejriwal called for increasing the income tax exemption limit from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, citing the heavy financial burden on middle-class families.
Kejriwal criticised political parties for treating the middle class with a “slave mentality” post-independence and pledged that AAP MPs would voice their concerns during upcoming parliamentary sessions. He vowed to bring middle-class issues into the political mainstream.
