Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before ED even today, terms summons illegal
New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has once again been summoned by the ED to participate in the inquiry. This marks the fifth summons issued by the ED to CM Kejriwal.
Previously, Kejriwal did not comply with the ED’s summons on four occasions. According to available information, he is expected to disregard the fifth summons as well, asserting its illegality. CM Kejriwal has previously denounced these summonses as illegal.
In response to the ED’s earlier summons on January 18, Arvind Kejriwal questioned the necessity of summoning him, stating that the ED itself acknowledged he was not the accused.
He questioned the motive behind the summons, alleging that the BJP aims to detain him to impede his participation in the Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal said that leaders involved in corruption cases join the BJP, where their cases are swiftly closed, contrasting his party’s clean record.
During his response to the ED’s fourth summons, Kejriwal highlighted the frequent issuance of general notices by the ED, which were consistently invalidated by the court. Despite his numerous attempts to contest the legality of the notice, the Enforcement Directorate has not provided any response.
Kejriwal asserted that these notices are part of a political conspiracy, emphasizing the lack of findings in the ongoing two-year investigation.
Kejriwal questioned the timing of the notice, two months before the Lok Sabha elections, and expressed frustration over the lack of evidence uncovered in the two-year investigation.
He pointed out that many courts have repeatedly sought information on recovered assets, highlighting the absence of any significant findings such as money, gold, land papers, or other valuables.
