Ashoka University professor says Haryana women’s commission misread his post on Operation Sindoor

Sonipat: An associate professor at a private university in Sonipat, summoned by the Haryana State Women’s Commission over a social media post on Operation Sindoor, said on Thursday that his remarks had been misinterpreted.
Ali Khan Mahmoodabad, head of the political science department at Ashoka University, issued a public statement on X, saying, “I am shocked that the Women’s Commission, beyond its jurisdiction, has misread and misunderstood my posts to such an extent that they have changed the meaning of the words.”
The Haryana State Women’s Commission had sent a notice to Mahmoodabad on May 12, stating that a preliminary review of his social media posts revealed concerns, including allegedly “insulting women in uniform” and “undermining their role as professional officers in the Indian armed forces.”
The controversy follows a recent media briefing during Operation Sindoor, in which Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh addressed the press alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
